rear parking sensor intermittence

Hi ,

My car is 98 E320. I just notice the rear parker sensor got intermittence. But I also found a trick to turn it on again by pulling the shift stick slightly downwards.

Can anyone got the same problem? How to fix this?

Thanks.

Sounds like the contacts in the shifter are defective as the parktronic gets its power from the backup lights..via the shifter and tail lights

Check to see if the reverse lights work...

I agree with Mark you may have bad contacts in the shifter (the power of the parking sensor is supplied by tapping into reverse lights which means that the device is only on when your car is in reverse).
