Talking EXCEEDED (SERVICE) BY XXX DAYS DISPLAY

I do my own servicing on my '98 E430 and finally got the old "wrench" display to pop up. Problem is I need to turn it off. I've checked some other postings that indicate that the procedure is in the owner's manual. Not mine, as far as I can tell. Has anyone successfully tried a reset sequence on this car? I did try one recommended for another E series but without success.

The procedure wary between the models.
On older models you have to start in "sleep mode" what means close the doors and wait for all the lights and displays to go off. I tried on 2001 and it worked with open door and display on.
Just keep on trying. Timing here might be everything.

Thanks. I took a third trip through the manual and did discover the sequence under Flexible Service System (FSS) in the Driving Section of all places.
