I just ordered from a dealer the remote key for 1996 E320 and paid $187 for it.. So i go to the guy who will program the key for me and he goes the service parts and its gonna cost you 50 dollars for that...i was like are you kidding me 50 dollars for 30 second task...such a rip off this dealer... i am so disgusted by their service...If there is anyone out there that knows how to program the key i would greatly appreciate it because i dont wanna spend 240 dollars for a key thats not even guaranteed to work.If anyone knows how to do it please let me know or if there is any website or anything like that... Thank you !
Aim the transmitter at the receiver under the interior mirror and briefly hit the button twice. Within thirty (?) seconds, put the key in the ignition and turn it to position 2.
Let me add that I paid about $240 including tax, but the shop didn't charge to attempt to program it. It would not work. The parts place sent it back and got me one that did work. I'd call that "guaranteed to work."
I dont have the owners manual lol... all i have is this forum ...so if the key doesnt work does that mean i can ask mercedes dealer for another key to be sent to me or i am gonna be stuck with a non working remote?
Yeah the genious in the dealer wanted to sell me the chrome smart key and i just looked at him and told him again that my car is 1996 i have the good old fashinoned cut key...just need some help to program it to lock and unlock my doors and windows and thats it...thank you
i know but that is the only closest dealer to my house...ill just try to do what you told me with pointing the key to the rear view mirror where sensors are and try the steps and see if it works cause i have no other choice
