I really love these forums as these have gave quite some training on DIY jobs... recently i am experiecing a very strange problem... My car RPM dives to 0 as i press the exlerator for a second and revives again that causes at times car to stall... the problem occurs sometimes and sometimes it runs fine... the things i already tried are.
1. Changed fuel pump + filter
2. Chevron to clean up fuel flow
3. WD40 in the actuator to clean injector carbon etc.
4. changed a sensor at 1'oCLock facing the engine.
5. Checked the MAF.
6. Changed Air filter
Could it be the CPS ( is there more than one thing called CPS i.e. Crankshaft or Camshaft) where is it and how to change it.
on the scan nothing appears, only a misfire at 3rd injecter, i checked it its working fine, and i also wont doubt it because the problem is not constant it comes and goes.
One more finding on above case is that... If i push the accelerator slowly the RPM does not dive where as if i accelarate abruptly , it dives and comes back.... any IDEAS...
CPS usually runs, or not.
I would suspect that your MAF is going bad and that why you have misfiring code.
Taking that MAF on those cars are becoming consumable, I would buy new MAF and try it. If it something else, than you have spare MAF, that you are going to need rather sooner, than later.

throttle actuator would be a good guess. it's easy to replace, but is $$$. take a look at this, throttle actuator removal is the last two pictures at the end of the page MercedesShopWiki: W124 Engine Wiring Harness Replacement
it is from a w124, but you should have the same setup, as long as you have the m104 inline 6 engine.
1 more question... if u press the accelarator briskly (quickly all the way down) should the RPM respond spontaniously or is there some time difference due to ECU calculating all sorts of stuff??? I can understand RPM responds immediately in the old engines where no ECU was involved ... but since these cars are electronic....???

With mine, the car responds immediately when I press the accelerator. If there is a delay for the ECU to calculate some things, it is so brief that I do not notice it. Good luck with your problem.
