Painted Intake Manifold

So I got a wild hair the other day and decided to paint my intake manifold...tell me what you think I've still got some cleaning to do. When I get to the finished product, I'll post some more. Calipers are next!

Cool

I'm thinking about going with silver. The red looks like a Viper or Vette. I can never get that thing as clean as I want. I wonder if they make High heat chrome paint?

I did a very light sanding. I was looking for some distinction, I think I found it, for that part. I looked at other colors and really didnt find one that looked halfway decent. The reason I chose this color was because there is a brake caliper pait kit that matches. I looked at a chrome paint, but I'm a little concerned about the outcome and if it will look good. Some of those paints don't really come out "chrome".

It looks pretty slick, Capt.

Re: the chrome paints, there are a couple of good ones out there, but you really have to have a clean, SMOOTH surface, so you'd be sanding a long, long time on the manifold. I suppose you could get it really clean and then use a metal epoxy with a plastic spreader to fill in all the ridges, then when you sanded it would be easier to get it smooth. Either way, that's a whole lot of work just to use chrome paint.

Take care and enjoy the ride,
Greg

Can't say I like the color, but it looks nice and even and stuff.

Some ceramic engine enamel in a nice silver would look pretty good.
