Waterproof centre console?
Is there anyway that the dreaded centre console can be waterproofed against spills? Surely there must be a way to cover the valuable electronics with some sort of waterproof membrane or cling wrap. I'm curious to hear the opinions of those who have seen the underside of the console - I haven't.
It could save Merc owners a lot of money in the long run.
Cheers

currently i am redoing the whole transmission... precisely because of the damage caused by liquid spillage. so i know first hand how important it is to waterproof it.
i was just thinking the other day... whether i could use vaseline to get the job done.
i know it sounds funny... but that's what i use on computer motherboards to protect from condensation... when i do water cooling.

Nothing much.
The window switches, etc. are all mounted to the underside of the wood.
The shifter box is a separate component and is usually the problem.
On the newer slap-shift 5-speeds, there's a new, improved model more resistant to liquid ingress. Don't know about earlier ones.

Is there a way of wrapping the shifter box with a thin membrane of sorts?
Cheers
