I just wanted to say last night, I rotated my tires for the first time, and just realized that the tires where infact to big, the spare tire says 215/16 and the 4 that came with the car says, 225/16. I realized that the slight vibration from the front I was getting was from the front tires rubbing againts springs and wheel well., Now I was extremely surprised and am getting the two front changed untill I need 4 new ones all together. Whats your opinion, obviously the previous owner didnt notice this nether did the dealer or myself, but now am happy that I did, because it was very very dangerous to drive like this.
ok, just got the correct tires for the front but I need a new balancing do to the fact that the previous balance was for the wrong size. I dont have that metal-type grinding noise anymore, which now I know came from having the wrong size tires.

Yes, you would need to drop the sidewall # to 50 to make sure the tires are all the same size around. 215-55-16 front and 225-50-16 rear. Just get 4 new matching tires to be on the safe side

wow, thank you, i did notice more road noise, and about 5% less handling in the steering area. I have some stuff to do but will do that asap, cuz the tires Im using in the front are actualy 205/60 16 now?????, he said he didnt have any 215/55 16 in stock at the time of purchase, so now I have 205/60 16 in front and 225/60 16 in back?????? still learning all these things and how it affects the car, plus the cush ride is gone now, but I will take safety over lux anytime
No, no, no, no, no. Not good. That car will understeer like a pig. You will freak out the ABS, and ASR, ESP if equipped. The wheelspeed sensors will be rotating at different speeds, so the car will think your front tires are turning slower than the rears. It may not be that noticable at low speeds, but highway speeds may cause the ABS and such to come on.

IMO, the best idea is to use the manufacturer's recommended tire sizes. I also think it is a good idea to use the recommended brands from when your car was new. MBUSA can give all of this to you, as they did for me.

Thank you, wow. I wont deny the ride is weird. The spear tire says 215/55 16 and thats what I asked the tire shop for, but they only had 205/60 16 so I thought it was safer to get it done emediately rather than continue using 225/60 16 which where rubbing on the springs and such. I will def get all 4 changes ASAP. I starting thinking just now, could my cruise control be shutting off do to the different tire sizes?

Correct tire size is an equation. If you jump up from 215 to 225 then you have to balance the equation by dropping the sidewall down from 55 to 50 to keep the diameter the same. If they are going to put a 60 series tire on because that is all they have, then go to another tire shop. Like was said, you are going to screw up your ABS and cruise control because the wheel rotation will not be the same.
