Tough negotiation
It’s time for my wife to get a new/used car. I am trying to talk her into a 2002 E320 wagon. She wants a 2002 Volvo S80. I would love to have two of the same vehicles in the garage. This would be great for maintenance, buying parts and trouble shooting. Any advice on how I can make the E320 stand out against the Volvo S80?

just buy it and put a big red bow on it. When i buy cars for the family i just buy them and eventually they love my choices. Hell, she loves you and that took time too. Get that white one you have pictured... women look great in white

Tell her that her friends will be more jealous when she meets them lunch in a Benz.
The E-Class also may have the 3rd row seat, and 4-Matic all wheel drive. Not available on a 2002 Volvo S80. The Mercedes E320 wagon also has standard self leveling rear suspension. Not available on the Volvo S80.
Oh, and the Mercedes-Benz has lifetime roadside assistance, and it can be purchased certified with really low finance rates of 4.9% for 36 and 5.9% for up to 60mo.
The only S80 with Nav and Xenon options would be the Elite model which was the 5 seat version of the Executive. Those models had wider rear door openings and more room. Also, the option of rear entertainment. The Executive was a 4 seater only.
White W210 wagons always catch my eye, and if a woman's driving, they KEEP my attention. But a Volvo S80 is a really nice ride, less touted and thus less costly.
My sister has a 2004 Volvo XC70, which is essentially an S60 wagon. It compares interestingly to my 2002 E320 4 matic wagon. XC70 seats are plush leather while E seats are firm. XC70 suspension is soft while my E is stiff (may be a problem with mine). XC70 5 cylinder turbo AWD has MUCH more pickup than E 6 cylinder non-turbo AWD. XC70 has more advanced gadgetry where it counts (better stock radio, better trip computer, rain sensing and adjustable intermittancy wipers, etc) than the E (dimming mirrors = no big deal). The list goes on and on, but I can't remember everything right now.
Remember XC70 = S60, so the S80 must be even nicer (though I have no idea how; they really seem the same). Volvos really fly under the radar and are a good deal for the price. It annoys me that my sister's $35k (?) two-year-newer car has features I don't in a $57k two-year-older car. (of course, I bought it used for $30k, so it all works out).
