My transmission has failed over the past few days. I now only have first gear. Took it to the dealership today, dropped the pan, looked clean, fliud also clean. They have recommended a new transmission and quoted me a price of 9800.00$!. This is more than the car is worth, it is in good condition otherwise. I am sure I can do better with another shop. Any advice on how to proceed. If I decide to not repair the car, how can I dispose of it? How much is a reasonable price to pay for a used transmission installed?? In my short amount of research, this is a significant issue with this transmission >100000K miles. Mine has 102000, with a 100000K warrenty.......................................... ..............Needless to say I am not happy. Has anyone had any experience with Cottman Transmission?
