Today when I start the car, the Check Engine light was on. I did not feel anythng unusual so I drove the car. The car drove fine. After about 30 minutes and a stop at a store. I restarted the car and the light was gone for the rest of the day.
I wonder if anyone has experienced this?
It is a 2003 E320 Wagon with 68k miles so it is W210 with M112 motor. I wonder if the MAF is slightly dirty and caused this.
Hook it to a scanner and find out. Sometimes pending codes will turn into a real engine light code only later to disappear later. Usually means something is really borderline, either the MAF, spark plug, coil, O2 sensor, something needs replacing. Only way to find out is hook it up to a scanner.

I went to Autozone and the guy used a 9175 to pull the stored codes. There was no currebt code but he pulled a stored one: P0335, crankshaft position sensor "A". The car did not have any starting/stalling problem at all.
Short version of my question for 2003 E320 Wagon 4Matic (W210). Which crankshaft position sensor should I get, Bosch or Hella? They cost about the same.
Here is the long version. Your reading and comments are deeply appreciated.
The strange thing is that that code (P0355) cannot be erased by their scanner so the guy said it might not been trigged by the light the day before.
The car did not have any start/stalling or idling problems. Everything is normal.
After a lot of reading on various forums about this sensor, I was finally able to locate it. I unplug the connector and saw a bit corrosion so I cleaned it and the sensor contacts with electric contact cleaner. I was also able to feel with fingers that E8 bolt and put on an E8 socket (1/4 drive) but did not unbolt it. It seems that the unbolt and re-bolt of that bolt is completely by feel because I cannot see the bolt head. I was afraid not being able to put it back once I take it out because I have not experienced any trouble yet.

Hey, loubapache.
There are some transient things that can light the light that never re-materialize. Personally, unless it comes back, I wouldn't chase ghosts. If it recurs you'll (hopefully) have more useful codes to direct you to the fix. FWIW it might have been the corrosion on the CPS connector, so you may have kept it from recurring. Only time will tell.
Take care and enjoy the ride,
Greg

That was the exact thing I decided to do but I did
1) ordered a new Hella CPS just in case. One of my H6W bulb went out so it is a perfect time to place an order.
2) ordered a Actron CP9175 (the same one flw210 has) for $109 from Amazon. It is on sale now. I want to see the freeze frame data that trigged the CEL. Normally P0335 is trigged when the temperature is high but mine came on when it was low (first start in the morning). So it could very well be a fluke or contact problem. With the scanner and the CPS and the right tools in the car, I can change it anytime.
I received my Actron CP9175 scaner today and plugged it in.
That P0335 code Autozone cannot erase disappeared. That must be a pending code and my cleaning might have made it disappear. It is good now that I have a scanner so I can see freeze-frame data if it comes on again.
I do have the new Hella sensor in the car, along with the necessary tools to replace the CPS.
