Has anyone had a problem with the upper spring mount just folding under pressure? I was driving down the highway and with a loud thunk it just flew right out of my car. I pulled over to see the left side much lower to the ground. When I got to my destination I was surprised to see that the flimsy piece of tin was rusted and spit or more like smashed up against the side of the wall that it was welded to. This is a very bad design idea and the material it is made of is like an aluminum soda can. I’ve seen beer cans with more strength (8% by volume). Is this something that MB should look at? To that, should they pay for the repair?
do a search through any MB forum for the words "rust spring perch" and you'll
see that this (sadly), though not common, is also not rare. seems to happen
with 2wd w210s.
