Question about your interior

Sorry to come into your section here but I need some advise,

I'm working on a new stereo setup this weekend in my 208 and was curious if one of the interior pieces might be compatible.

On your interior, there's a fold up piece of wood between the head unit and the ashtray. Any idea if that part may fit into a CLK? All I have there is an empty slot.

If so, could anyone direct me to where I might find it?

I'm going to be building a custom panel that has the bass control knob and a slot to insert my ipod. It would be great if I was able to install it set back and have that piece cover it.

Thanks!

I don't know if that'll fit but I took a few pictures of the area so people can see what you're talking about. On mine, a '98 W210 sedan, it's a sunglasses/knick-knack cubby.

Thank you for the picture! The stealership has one in stock but of course, they have no idea if it's interchangeable. Of course, they want over $200.00 for it.

It is not going to fit in the CLK cubby area directly. If you wanted to get a used one to mod to fit, they are available on ebay from a lot of the salvage yards that sell parts online.

Ebay item number: 190099503602

eBay Motors: MERCEDES E 300E E320 E420 E430 BURL WOOD CONSOLE CUBBY (item 190099503602 end time Apr-10-07 08:20:20 PDT)

Ok, after looking at it again, your consol is quite a bit wider than mine. I have exactly 7 5/16" from side to side straight down. Based on the pictures above, it looks like yours is about an inch wider on both sides.

Back to the drawing board..... I may have to just fabricate a piece from ABS Laminate. Thanks guys!

Show us some pics when your project is complete! I'm curious to see how it turns out.

Best of luck,

Tom

Will do. I started on the iPod / bass control mod today. So far, so good. It may be a couple of weeks until it's all buttoned up (Full time work and school), but I'll certainly visit and post a couple of pics.

Thanks again.

Per request, it's not the cleanest job, but at least the concept is down and functional. I couldn't find any wood that would work. It either didn't match or was obvious cheap laminate. I just used gloss black ABS.

I'll likely build it again once I can get the proper wood and know what I"m doing.

Thanks again for everyone's help!

There was a guy in the ventage section that was making custom wood cup holders to sell, he could make it for you
