My 97 E320 came with an analog phone built into the system. I really want to use this phone as a back up. I am on the road a lot commuting to work. I am looking for just basic, basic service. Can anyone advise me on this?
Am I just out of luck in finding a service for this phone that otherwise works perfectly?
WELL, AFTER READING OTHER POSTS ON THIS TOPIC, I THINK I HAVE MY ANSWER UNFORTUNATELY. What a waste of a great feature in this car.

why don't you hit the SOS button and see what generic message from the original phone co. comes up. I hit the SOS button in my car after I bought it. I knew there was no service to it but on the generic message I learned it was Verizon in the beginning. Otherwise, try to find a local stereo installation shop that also sells phone service. They should be able to tell you if your cars phone is compatible with todays systems.
