Stuck trunk tumbler

Any ideas on a simple way to get the tumbler to turn on the trunk lock? I bought the car recntly after I totaled my 163. The trunk opens with the console switch, and opens with the car unlocked and I manually press the tumbler in to unlatch the trunk.

So I know the hands-free open works and the manual open works. But it does not open with either key fob. It does unlock with the key fob, but will not open with the button.

So, I read the manual, which showed the various key positions for enabling remote opening. I inserted the three blade keys that came with the car. I can't turn the tumbler in any direction. Any ideas?

I know there is a "valet" mode. I just am not sure the proceedure back and forth.
