I was thinking about getting a diesel W210 and giving the gasoline W210 to my girlfriend. But they are hard to find!!! I searched on Used Cars, New Cars, Buy a Car, Sell Your Car - AutoTrader.com and within a 300 mile radius there are a few of them but they all have between 85k-169k miles.

Watch ebay; you'll sometimes find an older MB fan who's retired & not mileing up a diesel like most folks do
It may be worth it just to save a little bit and get a W211 with the inline-6 CDI, like an '05 or '06. I could give my W210 to my girlfriend. I'm not certain because I just bought a nice 3400 sq ft home with a three car garage and a 100' RV driveway, and now my girlfriend is pregnant so I'm going to be buying another home close to her work.
Now that I look at it, there are a few low miles W210 diesels on ebay! Thanks man!
I searched long and hard for a used 210 diesel before I finally bought a gas version. I was amazed at the premium price the used diesels were commanding versus the gasoline motors. Here on the east coast the premium was on the order of $5K or better. I figured it would take almost 10 years to make up the difference via the pump and better MPG.
Bottomline, I punted on the diesel and went for a gasoline model. I'd consider a diesel new or if one fell into my lap, but I won't be searching for one again. It was too much emotional pain. Besides, I could have gotten out of the Honda Accord a year sooner. :-) Oh well, live and learn.
Good luck. I hope your search goes better than mine did.

I agree that the diesel "premium" may not be worth it if you are going to run it on diesel that currently costs more than gas. If you are going to run it on free vegetable oil then the diesel will pay it's own way eventually.
I bought one with 137k miles on it and I was told that is low miles for a Diesel by many. If you drive a lot then the efficiency definately helps... Now, in CT, Diesel is $279 a gallon and premium gas is $315 per gallon; I get solidly over 30mpg and because I do a lot of driving it is a savings I can see. Also, the diesel is less expensive to maintain and more durable. Since it has less overall horsepower the car itself holds together even better. Also, you can feel good about driving a diesel because it is simply more efficient.
