I don't know about those brands but Mercedes sold 17,304 units in February 2007 with 30.9% of those sales being C-Class and E-Class. Certified pre-owned sales were 3,910 for Feb 2007. Probably a lot of those sales in Jan were from Christmas presents.
Anyway, who came up with that phrase pre-owned? Before-owned? It's almost as bad as Toyota with the Pre-Runner. WTF is that supposed to mean? Before runner? I think Certified Used Cars sounds just fine. Heh, how about Certified Pre-pwned. To some of you that was kinda half funny, to others it didn't make a bit of sense, heh. It's internet pop culture.
What I'm really interested in is the sales figures for the new E-Class CDI which I regard as one of the best sedans on the planet. And I hear they're going to put that diesel into the new Jeep Grand Cherokee and it can actually tow quite a bit of weight. Now that we have ultra low sulfur diesel it's going to be interesting to see which diesels become accepted and popular. It's going to be more important by 2010, I saw a show on one of the finance shows about the price of crude and how it's going to crest $100/bbl by then, which in turn would bring unleaded gasoline to $4/gal.
If we can get some sort of federal mandate making all diesel sold some mix of biodiesel, maybe even just B5, which would help with lubricity and also the cetane number, we'd probably be in good shape. ULSD is great start though! I sold my Sprinter RV conversion, I miss having a diesel vehicle. Oh, cheers.
