Today I took my car in for Service A, brakes and rotors for the front, had one teeny door ding removed and had three of my rims refinished to look like new. The drivers side is new because it had to be replaced after the tow truck driver damaged it at their expense. The rest looked ok but little bits of curb rash from me being a little off base when parking at times. Anyway, they look so awesome now! I was told I would need 2 tires in the back pretty soon so I am thinking of just getting 4 new tires instead of just the two in the back. I went to the tire and rack section and figured I wanted to post here instead of being with all the other hundreds of things discussed in that thread. My car is the sports pack and I have the 17 inch rather then standard 16 inch ones that most W210's come with. I will probably get the tires at the dealer because I am too lazy to get them at Costco and spend all day waiting or any tire shop. I rather drop her off get a loaner and be on my way. The dealer aligns and balances and most tire shops I have checked do not align. Anyway, I have Toyo tires right now but in the dealer guide they offer BF Goodrich, Continental, and my favorite Michelin *most expensive* A dumb question but I figure since I have "17" rather then "16" tires will be more expensive? Also, what do you guys think between all three mentioned? Which do you think are the best performance? Longer lasting? and which of the three would you not want to put on your car? Looking for some feed back

Ps2
I also have a E430 with the sport Pkg. I have the Mich PS2's. They are great tires. I have had them on the car for 7k miles and they have been great. The only down side is the $198.00 price per tire.

I have to agree...PS2's are the cream of the crop. I put Toyo Proxes T1R's on my car. To be honest, 10% less performance for 40% savings. Something to consider.
I'll offer a different opinion. Goodyear Eagle F1 GS D3. These are summer-only tires, but since you live in Southern California I doubt you have to deal with snow. They are absolutely incredible, and the rain performance is better than anything else out there. I run them on my C280, which runs a "plus one" wheel/tire combo over stock. They are simply amazing.
i use dunlop sp sport maxx for most of the year, and in the winter i use bridgestone blizzaks. what i like the most from the dunlops is that they are very stable at really high speeds. also very quiet. the treadlife is good also. i have been really satisfied with them. the blizzaks don't ride as nice, but they don;t spin in the snow.

I have the Continental ContiTouringCompact and I like them, and yes, a 17" tire will be more expensive than a 16" if you are comparing the same make and style.

If handling is your ultimate goal then the PS2 is hard to beat.
But if longevity figures in -- as well as cost -- then I'd go to Continentals. I'm running their extreme contacts on mine right now (234/45/17) and they are really great tires. Nice ride quality, good tread life, very good traction and handling.
I'd suggest you spend a little time on Tire Rack's web site. Even if you're not buying tires there, as you drill into tires and types they have reviews, specs and all sorts of information that will help you narrow your choices. Well worth your time.
Take care and enjoy the ride,
Greg

Ok, I will really research tires. I think I have a few months to go on the back ones anyway. I do like a quiet tire and I am into performance but at the same time don't want to replace in 6 months. I am fairly analytical with things so makes sense for me to get all the info I can! Thanks guys! I can tell this might not be such an easy choice but in the end I am sure I will be happy with what I choose.
