Check Engine/Glow Plug lights on - Benzworld.org

Please forgive my ignorance but I'm new to MB ownership.

1999 E300 Turbo Diesel. Been running perfectly. After starting it this morning, the Check Engine and Glow Plug lights came on. It's idling the same as usual. I shut it off and restarted several times with the same results. Any ideas?

My nearest repair shop is 60 miles away. Is it safe to drive it there?

You've got a bad glow plug. To be sure take it to an Autozone or such and have the code read or you can take an ohm meter to the relay box connector and measure each plug's resistance. Good plugs Will measure about 0.6 ohms cold. Then read about stuck and broken glow plugs on this engine to be an informed consumer.
