Any help It seems that all things work door locke etc but when I try to start the KEY WONT TURN tried moving the steering wheel still nothing.
such a bummer
I had this same problem with my 2001, the dealer said that the key only has so many turns on it. Then it needs replaced. Kind of BS if you ask me, but it would not start the car. What you are going to have to do is have the dealer order you a replacement key, not a new key. A replacement is a replacement, a new key will have to be synced to the car before use and will cost more $$$. Do not try the e-bay used key idea, I have a friend that is a MB mechanic, he informed me that a key can't be recoded.
My "New" E300D had a problem with turning ignition with both keys.
I don't know how many turns the ignition made during 225,000 driving before I bought it, but I assumed a lot.
I sprayed WD40 inside the cylinder and took the time to insert the key several times and wipe off all the gunk coming back on it.
Al thought not perfect, the ignition works OK for the last 6000 miles.
