Looking to purchase 02 E320 what issues can I expect - Benzworld.org

I have test driven a few E320 and I am very impressed with the ride and quality of the brand. I am looking to purchase 02 E320 4matic, what issues/problems can I expect. I understand that they are expensive to maintain but I plan on doing my own maintenance (I'm a little picky about how things get done).

If winter driving is a necessity for you, a 4-matic is a good choice. Otherwise, I would advise that you buy a RWD. From what I have read, you can expect higher maintenance on the 4WD and some parts are more expensive.

As far as issues/problems, look for body and front shock absorber (specifically the spring perches) corrosion and make sure all the recalls and TSB issues have been resolved. 2002 is the last model year for the W210 so that is about as good as you are going to get.

you might want to do a serach on the on boards. there are numerous common issues that the W210 has. Faulty MAF sensor, poor quality window regulators, and motor moutns to name a few. Be sure to get the car inspected by an expereinced mechanic before purchase. If not taken care of, these cars have the potential of being a money pit.
