My CEL came on and the car runs great. I'm considering going to Autozone to rent a OBD ll. Does anyone know if a generic OBD works on Mercedes? Also, if it does work will there be some way to interperet the given codes. What do dealers/shops charge to run the codes. Anyone know?
Try Auto Zone first. Don't clear any codes unless you have changed parts, as a repair shop may need the additional information that is stored (freeze-frame data, particularly).
If there are P0xxx codes, A-Z should be able to translate it for you if the tool itself does not. If there are P1xxx codes, it's M-B specific so post them here.
Agree with the other post, just FYI to our thread starter that OBD-II is "generic", that's the whole point of it.
Take care and enjoy the ride,
Greg
