how do you reset service light on e240? is it a manual procedure or do you need to hook it up to a pc/unit with adapter etc?

Yes, it is a manual procedure, i.e. in your owner's manual.

with key turned to ignition, you flick through OSD menu until you reach "km's and distance travelled", once at this screen you hold "R" next to the instrument cluster, for just over 2 seconds, a screen comes up asking to "confirm press R" you hold "R" again and it resets it for the next 15000km interval
