Thumbs up 'Nuther Autohaus order

Folks,

A while back I got in the habit of carrying extra bulbs for the benz, for two main reasons. One, some of the bulbs can be VERY hard to find and who wants to spend $6 in gas to run to a dealer and be insulted? Two, it's nice to have them on hand so you can change them when they puke, and if you shop on line you can save a decent amount of money. I keep them handy in the tire well, wrapped up in a rubbermaid container along with a latex exam glove to prevent accidentally touching the halogen bulbs in the changing process.

In any event, both of my fog lights burned out within a week of each other and I'd run out of spares, so I put in another order at autohausaz.com. I didn't need all of these now, but went ahead and ran it up to $50 to get free shipping. Ordered Monday afternoon, got shipping confirmation a couple of hours ago... and for $50.16 this is what's on it's way to me:

2 amber turn signal bulbs, rear
2 amber turn signal bulbs, front
2 dual element offset pin brake/tail bulbs
2 dome/trunk light bulbs
4 H1 fog light bulbs
2 H7 headlight bulbs
and two packs of brake paste (already have 2, need to do them soon).

Yes, I already have spare city lights on hand. (Those are two of the hardest ones to find other than the dealer...).

I do like dealing with Autohausaz.com.

Take care and enjoy the well-lit ride,
Greg

It doesn't look like you have to order too many of the Osram Silverstar bulbs to hit their minimum, so you must have gotten the Osram Sylvanias!

what lifetime are you guys getting on your headlights?

is it just my car or the silverstars don't last more than 7-8 months? i changed from the regular H7 halogens to the H7ST because they are a little brighter, but the keep burning so fast. i have changed the passenger's side 5 times and the driver's side 4 times. i;m starting to think there is a short circuit somewhere. i have the same light bulbs on my S320 (H7ST), and i have changed the light only once for both sides, but i do drive the S320 a lot less than the E320. what lifetime are you guys getting on your headlights?

Benzos seem to burn out headlights a little more often than some other cars, but re: Silverstars I've *never* had good luck with them from a longevity standpoint. And I mean that both ways, they seem to burn out more often than regular halos and their light quality diminishes pretty quickly to that of a regular halo. Definitely not worth the extra beans IMHO.

Take care and enjoy the ride,
Greg

That's what everyone says about SYLVANIA Silverstars.

OSRAM Silverstars, however, have same life as normal bulbs.

Power Bulbs - autobulbs, autolamps, xenon headlights, car bulbs, headlight bulbs, osram silverstar, silver star, philips vision plus, philips blue vision, bluevision

Hey, the "cool" way to do W210 spare bulbs looks like this (except part number should be B6 681 0018). Will have to source from Europe.

thanx kent and greg. at first i was worried that my car had a short circuit somewhere, but now i understand that is the type of bulb that doesn't last long. i'm gonna go ahead and order an osram silverstar H7, cuz i;m pretty sure the ones i have will burn in a few months.
