At approximately what speed should the transmission kick to 5th gear? Will it do it automatically or am I required to flick the lever? I always assumed that 5th gear would just happen automatically like a lot of my other cars (Japanese)?
Will someone out there run me through.
It should upshift all on it's own. Mine kicks in someplace near 40 if I'm just cruising around.
You ever changed the fluid and filter in it?
Double-check your manual re: operation of the W/S switch, that may make a difference as well.

So you can select any other gear 1st thru 5th. For example, you can downshift a gear or two when going down a steep hill. You might want to read your manual. It's all there.
