Has anyone had their older MB undercoated to protect from rust? My E420 spent its entire life in the sunny weather with no salt to worry about. What do you all recommend for undercoating? Does Z-bart still exist?
I bought a 2000 E320 and had it rust proofed by Krown Rust Control, they use a clear oil spray ( it is not used motor oil) a petroleum based product that is sprayed every year, it is ok if sprayed on electrical plugs, wiring, suspension bushings, does not harm anything, but it does drip for a few days after it is sprayed. This is a Canadian company, their web site is. www. krown.com, you can check it out and see if anything similar exists in Chicago area. They spray inside of doors, rockers, under hood areas, trunk lid, inside fenders and under the vehicle as well, the product displaces moisture as well. I have used this on my other vehicle and it works well, several fleet operators use it as well such as road plows, salt trucks, etc. My particular location that I use is across the street from a Benz body shop and they said that they spray Benzs frequently.
