Oil dip stick
After picking up my new to me e420 in san diego and driving it 3,011 miles to chicago, on my last fill up i checked my oil again, (no loss) but the pull top seperated from the rest of the dip stick
... i tried to press it together but no luck. where does one get a new dipstick besides the stealership? No luck on my favorite ebay. any advice?

New dipsticks are about $10 from a dealer.
Fear of dealers will prove quite limiting.

My dealer (chicago) quoted me 42.75 for the dipstick. I found one for 5.65. My fear of the dealership is founded for parts like this. its not the money i fear, its the bending over i have a problem with.

Stealership indeed.
42.75 - 5.65 = 37.10
That is a huge difference.
The worst is being robbed, while the dealer tells you that he is doing you a favor.
Glad you found a better deal.

Sorry, I rather continually confuse E420 (M119) with E430 (M113)
Dipstick for M119 is 119 010 02 72 and MSRP is $12 and you can get one for $9 here:
Duval Motor Cars
This is for 210072 with 119.985
Appears you have a bad dealer.
