If not, is there another way to do this without replacing the stock head unit?
Thank you
Just the other day, I read a thread about this on mercedesshop.com. If you send it off to Becker with a C-note, they can add an interface. It's not quite as nice as if it were stock, as it switches to the jack if anything is plugged in. You get the radio again by unplugging.
Otherwise, you can use an FM modulator. These work pretty well, but limit the high frequency response to that of the FM stereo band which is about 15Khz. I can't hear about that anyway, but many people can.
Does anyone know if this would work with my stock head unit?
Be caerfull with that, if you read it carefully, it says (model 94 to 98), 99 is completely different from 98, model 99 is a D2B fibre optic, 98 is not, make sure it's what you are looking for, from what I see it will not work with yours.
Yeah I purchased that item from e-bay. It replaces the cd connection, so I can't use cd player at the same time. Not a prob for me cause all my music is on my ipod. Sound is much better than fm modulator, very clear. Only problem is it takes awhile for unit to read device when switching back from radio, sometimes. But yes I would recommend.
