Yes it can be done as I did my Standard seats with heat ...
One will need the seat heater pads X4 wire harness and a Heated Seat switch assy..Oh a Replacement center wood will be needed to allow the seat heated switch to be installed...Several AFTERMARKET shops offer a heat option..But its Not OE

Then I Bought a set of Heated / Ventilated AND Multicontour seats
That required a lot of work..new PSE and Version code work..then plumb the lines from the PSE to the front seats..

Just a thought and wild guess... I have an E320 with heated seats. Also have a Land Rover Discovery without heated seats..... Relevance? It turns out that some of the Discoveries without heated seats are in fact alreday wired up and ready to go, the only thing missing is the switches. All the heat elements, wiring etc is all in place. Food for thought; could MB be the same? (Germans are smarter than the English when it comes to car design so maybe not, but worth looking into).

On my 2000 W210 Wagon the Harness had to be added for the seat heaters

I Wish it was that easy...

That's about the sickest thing I've read in a while. Automotive-related anyway.

this sorta thing happens all the time. it's cheaper to produce identical cars with more parts vs. trying to custom-build each car to ordered spec's. All BMWs come with built-in on-board computers (OBC) but it's a $500-700 option. You can just buy a new signal stalk with the OBC button and you have OBC!

how would i check if my car already has the heated seat option? should i just take the panel by the gear shifter out to see if there is a spot for the heated seat switch? or is it something more complicated?

If Your car has Heated seats you will have the Seat heater switch in the wood panel above the climate control

MBenzNL

If Not Then the car does NOT have heated seats...

Here is a Less Cost option...its NOT OE Mercedes but it does the job

Seat Heater for Cars and Trucks from HeatedSeatKits.com

That's an excellent price for those kits. Now I'm curious whether those elements would replace the ones in the 210, because the vertical piece on the driver's side has failed twice in my car. Grrr...

Take care and enjoy the ride,
Greg
