I posted towards the end of last year about transmission issues I was having. Well a few days ago I got my car back from the transmission shop, 6 weeks and $4500 NZD later. The transmission needed to be fully reconditioned.
Before the car went into the shop it was missing slightly, but it was only noticeable when idling in drive. Since the car has been back, the missing has become much worse to the point when the car is shaking quite bad and surging forwards at low speed (it's similar to a manual bunny hopping under low power). The gear changes are also not perfect with it flairing between some gears and changing at weird times.
I bought this up with the tranmission shop after getting it back and the guy said it was the missing which was causing the issues. What I want to ask is would the fact that the car's missing be effecting the gear changes? Also would it be causing the surging that I'm experiencing at low speed? I want to make sure the transmission has been fixed properly before I spend more money getting the other issue fixed.
Lastly, is it going to damage the car driving it when it's missing?

Thanks heaps!
Hey, bzy.
Just a friendly reminder, if you don't want to fill out your profile, then post details about your car when you're asking for input. We don't know whether you're driving a 6 or an 8 or an oiler or -- perchance -- if this is even the right forum.
So toss out those all-important details and we'll go from there.
Take care and enjoy the ride,
Greg

Sorry about that, I totally forgot! It's a 1997 W210 E200 Elegance. I'm assuming it's a 2 litre straight 6 but I could be wrong It's done 161,000 km's and has been serviced in the last few months as well as had the tranmission fully reconditioned. I'm hoping it's just the spark plugs or something similar that need doing...
TAKE IT BACK. For $4,500 I'd expect the car to run like a dream, and some, regardless of mileage. They took the job on, they should make the vehicle work.
Take it back and tell them that they've not finished the job as the car runs like shite. In fact, make sure you get a courtesy car from them for MAKING your car run like shite, and not fixing it the first time round!!
So I think I've found the problem, now if one of you kind people could tell me how to fix it.
After poking my head around in the engine bay for a bit I noticed a hissing sound coming from under my washer fluid container. Turns out the sound was coming from a pipe which was poked under there. The pipe was plastic, quite thin and sucking in air. I have never heard this hissing sound before so I assume this pipe shouldn't be there and should infact be plugged into something. When I put my finger over the end, thus stopping air from going in, the car seems to idle as normal. As soon as I take my finger off it shakes and almost stalls.
If anyone could tell me what this pipe does and whether it should be attached to something that would be much appreciated. I have attached photos to help
Sorry to say but all I can identify is the fitting valve (Y connector) & the connector hose where the hose is connected to. I'm pretty sure it's part of your emission system. Try checking some connection in Pressure sensor.
Ok, so I fixed this problem. In the daylight it was naturally easier to find where the hose plugged into. The car is still missing slightly (it has been for a couple of months) but it is running much better now and has its power back. I've attached a photo for anyone interested (it looks a lot easier to find than it was. It's tucked behind the washer container)
