Cool Cell Phone in car

Does anyone know if it is possible to use your cell phone in your car. Is it compatible as if I was using a Bluetooth so that I will be able to utilize the cars phone ability (existing microphone & sound coming through radio speakers).
Thanks, donald

It might be possible on your 2001 E320 because I have done that. You need a Motorola v60 phone cradle and the M-B puck (aka Bluetooth adapter) that snaps into the cradle. This is assuming you have the pre-wiring for a phone, but you can have that done.

Your and my car, if ordered from the factory with the option (or option package), had what they called a Timeport phone. I was lucky because my car did not have the Timeport, but the original owner had the v60 phone set-up installed by a dealer after they bought the car.

Good luck!

thanks for the reply Musikmann . . . I do have the factory phone option in my car, ie., microphone on visor, phone connect on sterring wheel and key pad next to radio. I have the Motorola Razor cell phone, do you think this might work?

You're welcome Donald. The cradle is the issue, at least as far as the M-B "workaround" or conversion to Bluetooth is concerned. I think if you have the Timeport phone system, you will need to look at the Argos system.

By the way, I have a Motorola Razr too, and everything that the car has for phone functions work perfectly (steering wheel volume and answer/hangup controls, keypad on my COMAND, microphone/speakers, mutes radio or CD when you dial or answer, download of phonebook entries - I think that is all).

I have forgotten where you buy the Argos systems, but if you look on the Audio & Telematics sub-forum here, you will find MORE than you ever wanted to know about M-B phones!

I just recently bought an 01 C320 and was wondering the same thing, it seems to be ready for a phone, I found an outlet in the top compartment of the armrest, it's behind a plastic cap, I don't think it was ever used but since it's there I'm thinking it must be already wired for the phone. I also have the steering wheel phone controls and keypad next to the radio.

I think this is what Mercedes called "pre-wired for a phone". I can't think of any other reason why there would be an outlet in your center console

The 01 will not work with anything that is not MB, the V60 included. the car came with a Timeport, there was an upgrade to accept the V60 (Mercedes branded Motorola) the Razor will work with some gymnastics, search on "mikbox". You have pre wire which means just that
Welcome to Paul's MB Info Website
