I bought my '01 w210 last summer and have played with all of the functions of the Multi-Function Display while driving. I finally decided to read the owner's manual - yeah, I know - and apparently digital MPH display is one of the options. But on my car the digital "MPH" selection is not there in the "Miles" section section where it should be. Per the manual, the choices in this section should be "Engine Oil Level", "Service", & "MPH" but there is no MPH choice for me, only the other two. Oddly though, in another section, I can choose the display values for the missing MPH section to be in miles or kilometers.
I do not have any malfunction codes. Anyone have ideas?

do you have navigation in your car? i never noticed the MPH display option in my car when I had the E430 w/ navi. Then when i got the e320, in playing with the display, i noticed the MPH display for the first time...so it could be on navi cars it's not there?

Here's a picture of what the manual shows. In my car, and apparently others as noted above, the MPH does not display and is just skipped by the system. Hmmm!
