Why does my E420 have bigger wheelgap than other stock E-class?
i could swear my E420 has a lot more wheelgap than other E-class cars I see on the road with stock 16inch wheels. why is this?? perhaps i'll take some photos and post here so everyone can see ...

EVERY 210 owner thinks his is worse. (Hey, mine was HORRIBLE.)
That's why there are soooooo many threads about lowering, pads, etc.
Just do it. Don't bother with photos. Don't hedge, hem and haw. Just do it. You'll feel much better afterwards.

^^^ New spring pads only help if what you presently have are thicker than what you can replace them with. The most drop you'd from a pad swap would be roughly 3/4", and that's on the assumption that you had 5s and went to 1s. Thus you have to determine what's in there to see if the change would be worth it.
Head for the DIY sticky in this forum, there is a description and part numbers there.
There are five thicknesses of pads used to settle ride height at the factory. All of them are "stock". Thus there would be at least 5 "stock" pictures. Other than thickness they look identical.
The ONLY way to know which of these "stock" pads you have is to inspect them. There are little bumps on them, 1 through 5. 5 bumps is a #5 pad, 3 is a #3, etc.
The look like sort of like a little doughnut, custom-molded to fit the end of the spring on one end and into the upper spring perch on the other.
If you really want a representative picture, I can take one, but it's not going to tell you anything anyway about what YOU have in YOUR car. (If you do a search across all forums in here there is a DIY with pics about swapping spring pads, as I recall it has a picture of the pad in it, too.
To be honest, my 1998 E320 has very little wheel gap, I dont know if anything has been down to the springs or pad by previous owner, but I did check and my tires are bigger and slightly wider than what I see out there. I just think its the tires, but dont quote me because I am not a professional or MB Certified tech. I have the stock rims, but alot of people have told me about my tires being wide, and I compared them to others with the same stock rims and yes the difference is visable.
