Got a quick question for anyone that has time to help...
I have a 1997 E300D (actually my wife's) that is giving the following error codes: PO400 and PO200. Anyone know what these codes typically mean on a deisel? I have seen all kinds of stuff on the web, EGR valves, EGR Chains, MAF, etc.
I just want some clarification from any one of you resident experts so I can replace (or clean) the part in question and feel safe when she drives the car (assuming I can find the part in question-although I have become quite the E300D mechanic). I have about 135K on the engine and have replaced the fuel lines, fuel filter, 'o' rings on the fuel pump & glow plugs)
The car seems to be running fine. No excessive smoke or other fumes. Just the "normal" deisel sounds and smells. I did just change the oil and filter. Used Rotella (at the sugesstion of a 'friend'), but I am thinking of going fully synthetic-thoughts? The check engine light came on and remains on after I changed the oil (but I have changed it before with no issues)
There does seem to be some electrical problems with the car as I periodically get "check engine electronics" and/or "Display Defective" messages and had to remove some fuses (lighter, garage door opener) to get the messages to subside. I think I need another display, but I cant find one.
