Valet key starts the ignition and opens the drivers side door but prevents the valet from gaining access to valuables that are located in the trunk or the glove box.

Your valet key looks slightly different than mine, but if it is thinner than your Smart Key, no lock/unlock, trunk, or panic buttons and doesn't require a battery, that has to be what it is.

This is Smart key without remote that has blade key sliding into the corner.
I think the understanding of valet key got reversed in that system. Took me few seconds to figure out, that with the key without the remote, I have to give the valet the blade key, that open the door AND glove box (I am talking wagon here), so finally i gave the valet the remote/smart key and kept the blade with me.
We've got sedan lately so I wonder how that would work on it.
Anybody read the manual?
