wiper arm help....
finally got a little snow up here in new england.....and my 4matic drove PERFECTLY.....the traction control/assist system never even had to engage once during my entire morning commute!!!
so i arrived at the office and decided to pull my wiper arm off the windshield....and so i pulled it up gently until i heard the "click"....my only question now is how to release the blade and put it back up against my windshield....apparantly i'm retarded and didn't see any sort of release button or something....

The only time I've done that was to clean the windshield and I never heard a click, but I never moved it far enough for it to stay off the glass by itself. If our W210s allow us to do this, I'd like to know. I guess I'm retarded too

I just checked my operator's manual, and I don't see that specifically mentioned except for the section on replacing the wiper blade. It simply says: Fold wiper arm forward (then it tells us how to remove the wiper blade, and there is a safety tab holding that in place - p. 290).
Hope this helps!

i just did a search on the whole web....and i found a post that says there's really no trick to it at all....there IS a click ~ but there is no release mechanism, simply apply pressure to get it past the 'stop' that produced the clicking noise...
there was a mention about using wd-40 or equivalent lubricator on the hinge cuz it does get difficult to work as the years pass....
Once the wiper arm clicks into place, you just apply pressure in the opposite direction (same plane of arc, you don't want to apply a torque to it) until in snaps back and drops to the windshield. It does take more pressure to release than it does to get it to lock "up" in the first place.
Hope that helps, take care and enjoy the clean windshield!

Thanks to both of you. When I raised my wiper arm, I felt enough resistance that I was afraid to pull it any further. When it gets a little warmer, I'll try to reach the click point, and then apply a little lubricant to the hinge at the same time. This is a nice feature when you're cleaning the windshield, or replacing the blade.
