Just an FYI. For those with the usual problem of broken Cat's (ie. rattling when you come up to a stop). There IS an alternative to the outrageous OEM parts replacement. Instead of the the $500-$900 PER SIDE dealer cost, I used Magnaflow cats, and had a "cut and splice" replacement done. Both sides were broken, and I'm beyond the 7Yr/80,000 warranty period.
The cost??? $125 each! Less than an hour to install both. Runs great, in fact, there is a slightly "throatier" sound. No performance difference, and not throwing any Codes.

My 97 E320 is giving me an exhaust smell when i start it now. Is it the Catalytic Converter? it also rattles a little too. I want to take it to a shop but im worried that if i say "I think its the exhuast" that they will make shure it is by punching little hole in it.
