Factory Alarm

Do our factory alarms have a glass breakage sensor?

Sadly, regrettably, no they don't.

Look at Prana's post in the general MB thread (hope I catch them before the cops). Bums pried at the windows until the broke, then they pulled his Alpine head unit by hanging in the doors (never opened them) but by hanging on them they scratched them all up, belt buckles I guess. Then they pried open the trunk and stole the amp unit, etc. Very nice.

One chief complaint about all factory alarms is that they are pretty limited, and really not upgradeable. Essentially you end up having to buy one that does what you want, then you get to carry around two remotes.

Take care and enjoy the ride,
Greg

Thanks guys! I've had my car for several years now and never really thought about it until I noticed it in my other car. My son was hitting the window of my other car with my keys and it set off the alarm. He thought it was kinda cool so he tried to set off the alarm on my Benz by doing the same thing, he couldn't set it off, so he was disappointed. He asked me if I had turned on the alarm, I said yes and why, he said he was trying to set off my alarm. He then put my keys down and went for a hammer, that's when I stopped him. Close call!!!
