My key would not turn or come out of the ignition switch a couple of times. The dealer said the switch is going out and will need replacing. Estimated at $758.00 parts and labor! Anybody have any D.I.Y. information on this job?
At 130,000 miles on the 1998 E-320 family wagon, much is starting to break. I'd like to make the car last a year or two more, but I don't want to spend that much on what seems like such a small job. Any thoughts?
Nobody has had problems with there ignition switch?
I change the one on my 96 but, I dont have to reset my car for the new key.$80.00 for the tumbler and come with one new key. You have to bring the car to the stealer anyway, for reset.
I think the '96 is a mechanical key, the '98 an electronic one? My '98 acted odd a couple times last week & did not want to come out; I just cleaned the visible areas of the key & outer lock & it works ok...so far...do not want to spend $$$ either!
