I was hopping that sum of you could give me a little info about the ECU Upgrades available for my '97 E420..I was planing on going with a RENNtech ECU but I guess thay dont make an ECU for the '97 E420 ,only the '97 E320 & E430. The only outher one that i am aware of is from PowerChip..Are there any outher ECU's available for my '97 E420?? Any suggestions would be greatly Appreciated !!
You can really use whatever manufacturer you want just make sure the install shop is creditable and has a warranty....but in the direction of a chip i wouldnt have a chip implanted in to your ecu to risky can damage stuff to easily and the dealer knows you have done it...i would instead have your ecu flashed/remapped this erases your stock info and adds performance programs so you can select either performance or economy modes that way there is less of a chance of your ecu being fried
That was exactly what i was looking for Does that remaping have to be dun by the MBZ dealer or Can any MBZ certified repair shop do it?Just wondering cause it will help narrow down my options.. thanks again mbj
i highly doubt the dealer would do it as it woudl void any warranty you may have ad most dont do tuning....an aftermarket tuning shop would be the best bet most are pretty competent and can do most ecu's...some places require you to drive to them other allow you to remove your ecu and mail it in it only takes about a half hour though if you drove it somewhere... with mailing it you wont be able to drive the car for a few days which is quite an inconvienence unless you have a second or wouldnt mind getting a rental
