it's just short for independent, not a MB dealership (we like to call them 'stealerships')

Those of us in touch with reality don't call them "stealerships."

Independent mechanics have their place--mostly with the older cars they were trained on when they worked at a dealership.

It's a good way to pay less for maintenance on an older car.

Not doing maintenance on an older car isn't.
