Driver's seat deteriorating

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Someone might have used the wrong chemicals to clean the seats of this car before I bought it and it appears it may have damaged the fabric. The fabric (doubt that it could be leather) is starting to deteriorate near the front of the seat bottom to where the surface is showing flaking and the material is actually splitting. The rest of the seat is almost perfect and it doesn't show up (at least not yet) on any of the other seats.

Does any one know of any place that could do a professional looking repair/replacement of this material or is there a good source to be used for finding replacement seats?

I'm also not sure so I was hoping someone could tell me if the W210 seats are the same as any of the other models or if there is anything different in the heated/cooled seats and a standard heated seat.

Thanks for any help.

where are you located, im sure someone can recommend some good detailing shops in your area?

you might want to try a good leather cleaner - like Mother's - and then condition the leather in the area where it's damaged. if you use armor-all leather wipes, you're effectively sealing up the leather, which doesn't moisturize it and doesn't allow it to breathe...it's a skin, so it needs moisture. if the seat is splitting it sounds like wear, what year is the car?

It's a 2000 E-320 and I live in Orlando. I would just as soon buy a good replacement if that's possible but I'm thinking the vented seats may be different so I'm reluctant to jump in a buy a replacement wihout checking that out. There also doesn' seem to be many E-320 seats available from what I can tell surfing through parts sites.

Your car should have leather, if the previous owner damaged the seats beyond repair id say look into an upholstry shop. Here at my dealership we get leather for less than $1000 installed. good luck
