anyone have diy-info on MAF cleaning?

i hear that a dirty or clogged Mass Air Meter can cause uneven idle among other things. i'd like to clean my MAF, can someone post some detailed instructions if you have done it?? what tools do i need.. pics would be fantastic. thanks !! 97 E420

You can search around on the sites but I think you'll find mixed results about cleaning the MAF. Lot's of us have tried, but usually it just makes it worse. Best bet is to buy a new one for $300 or buy just the insert with only the senosr for $80.
