I would also like all the pics. How did you access the spark plugs that are on the lower part of the engine? When I replaced all 16 plugs on my '99 ML430 (V8) I had to remove the front wheel and wheel wells to gain access to them. Is that necessary on the V6 as well?

plugs are side by side,in the sedan or wagon....and all m112 and m113 engines.What do you mean by the lower plugs?Just pull the cover off the engine,remove the air box and the maf tube and press the hood 90degree latch so the hood can go all the way up and make sure you have the handy dandy 17mm spark plug boot removal tool(from me $28 delivered stateside) and get it done.............no anti seize on the plugs and use bosch or ngk 7090 plugs with the single side electrode do not use multi tip or any other snake oil plug ohlord

I disagree. There are two banks of spark plugs on each side. 3 on top, 3 on the bottom. You don't have all 6 spark plugs side by side on each side of the engine. Look at the spark plug wires and you will clearly see what I'm talking about. And I did replace all 16 on my ML so I clearly saw the ones on the bottom once the wheel wells are off the vehicle.

I want to retract my statement as I was WRONG. The plugs are indeed side by side. What confused me is that when I did replace mine on the V8 engine, some of the rear plugs were very difficult to reach so this is why I ended up removing the wheel wells; to gain easier access to them. So my question is on the V6 engine, does the same thing apply? (is it much easier to access the plugs if the wheel wells are removed) or are they accessible without the need to remove the wheel wells?
