I think I'd like the original one better (no offense intended).

It's an interesting idea, but I think the hole for the hood opener ruins the effect. Even without the hole, I'm not sure I would like it on that car. All that unbroken surface makes the grill opening look too big.

It reminds me of something you'd see on a big Dodge pickup, where you're trying to emphasize the sheer bulk of the thing.

Looks like quality workmanship for a "cheapo" DIY.

I see two problems:
1) Aethestically, it's not anything visually interesting or pleasing, just different.
2) I'd be afraid of getting it jammed with rice.

Id have to say NO. lf you want a different looking grill why not try black. it will give your car that sporty look. To each his own...

Well thanks for that. I was always curious as to what a mesh grill would look like on the E, and now I know.

I personally don't like it, but I would suggest using the MB star to break up the big space, and to camouflage the hood opener.

It might make a huge difference. If you do it, post a picture so I can satisfy my curiosity.

Oh, and I agree with amcnair, looks like a quality job regardless of appeal.

I think that it makes the Benz look like a 50s Studebaker Hawk and a Kia Amanti mated.

I would keep the original, I don't think this grill added anything good (I don't want to say it's ugly) to Mercedes Benz which already have beautiful stuff. if anything to be changed is to go from classic or elegance to avantgarde it makes a bit of a difference.

No offense, but it looks like a very cheap version of the mesh grills made for Chrysler 300. But if you planning to keep it, I would either make it darker or more shiny (depending on your taste), and I would also add a Euro-style big star in the middle to cover the hole for the hood opener....
