Hello guys,
I am new to the board and just bought a 97 e320 from an older gentleman from Florida. Car was exceptionally clean and well maintained so we couldn’t pass up the great deal.
Anyhow, I am looking to update the rims, I have a lead on a set of 2000 E430 rims, 17x7.5 Offset is 37mm with 235/45/17 tires. I have done some searching on the forum and all numbers say yes, but before I pull the trigger, I need a definite yes from experienced MB owners who may have done this swap. I am trying to avoid having to drive out a few hours to pick em up and then finding out they don’t fit.
I have a 1997 E320 and purchased 2001 sport e430 rims. They fit perfect. Stock tire size is 235/45r17. I notice my car handles better and my co workers noticed my car over the ugly 16s we normally have. I got my setup for $400 with tires.
And yes they are the original lug nuts from the 97, they are a bit longer, but if the "ball seat diameter is too small for the new rims" please enlighten because if that is the case, then I need to take care of it this afternoon.
I have a 1997 e320 with 2001 sport e430 rims. 17 inchers with 235/45r17 tires.
Anyways the owner of the 2001 sport gave me his lugs and when I compared them to my stock lugs they were same length and had the same shape at the end.
I am not saying that my rims are the same, but I have not had a problem with my wheel setup and the lugs seated my wheels fine.
