I have 2001 E320 4Matic.
I have ordered a depo projector from e-bay, should be delivered tomorrow. I have read a lot of discussion on hid & totally confused as to what I should do, try philips blue vision or sylverstar premium light bulbs (halogen) or the depo's deffieciency in light output will force me to do hid?

I spoke to a local auto impressions guy, he says just bring the depo projector to him & for an additional $529 he will install (all parts & labor) the hid in the depo that I have ordered. Is the $529 worth it? My total then would be (depo) $315+(hid) $529.

Please suggest what I should do.

aftermarket HID

For the cost you are paying you could of bought OEM HID. I believe I have seen HID for the 210 around $1000 headlights, Ballasts, and HID. I am wary of aftermarket HID because of issues with the lamp malfunction problem on our vehicles.

I also know that most users do not like the pattern of the depo headlights. Basically the light pattern sucks on the depo and some members have the projector replaced.

Anyone else have some info on this?

I just cleaned my lenses with a kit I got from a detailer..required sanding, but my OEM headlights are clear now. I just bought some phillips H7 and phillips h6w so I will update with you that once i have it in.

I will try this and see if i get better night vision. After that I might go depo or oem xenon.

I forgot to tell you that on the depo headlights it is recommended you apply silicone to the seals on the lights to prevent water build up in the lights.( per forum info)

Apply it before you install and use rtv so it does not cloud the plastic. hope that helps

I have the DEPO headlights on my Benz. I use the Sylverstar bulbs. They seem to be pretty bright to me. The low beams are good, the highbeams unreal. One thing you can do is get Sylverstar H-3s in the fog lights. It adds a lot of light on the lowbeam setting.

Thanks firstbenzo for the silicone tip. where exactly do I apply this silicone? I don't know how to down/up load a picture but this is what I am getting today,

Thanks jeff522. I will try the sylverstar. Are you talking about these,

Headlight:

Foglight.

Also after instaling the sylverstar, do I need to make any adjustments to the bulb settings at night to optimize the light?

Wink silicone

I believe you apply the silicone to the lens/housing area. I beleive Raymond and/or Storm will have a better answer as they have done this mod.

I have yet to buy depo lights for the front.

Raymond-Thanks for the input.

I got the depo lights, they look great.. still doing homework and try to decide on what I want to do with them. I am tempted to do the E55 or RS6 retrofit, but I know I have to read a LOT & understand how to do this before buying anything.

Is there a step by step guide available somewhere or newbees like me to do Depo, E55 or RS6 HID retrofit? Thanks in advance.
