is it normal to see zip-ties on the spark plug connectors?? PICS

i'm still familiarizing myself to MB engine design, and when I lifted the engine cover on my M119 (97 E420), i noticed that each spark plug connector is zip-tied to a metal rod? i can't believe MB german engineering would allow something like this.

so when i change the spark plugs later, do i have to take the metal rod thingy out?

PICS

you might want to get your work done by someone if you think those are spark plugs. Those are injectors connected to the fuel rail, and yes, the zip ties are completely normal. you spark plugs are underneath the long black plastic covers on the valve covers.
