I have a 97 E-420. So yesterday I get a "Lamp Defective" message. I check car and its the side bumper bulbs. No problem I'll get that fixed tomorrow, I think. But later that evening I use infrared remote to lock doors and they don't lock. The indicators are working. That is the red light for lock and the green light for open. I use key on passenger door to try and lock and it only locks passenger door. All other doors have to be manually locked. I use door lock switch inside of vehicle and it works fine, power locks work with switch inside. Just can't get it to work from outside of vehicle. I don't think the "Lamp Defective" has anything to do with problem, but thought wise to mention. Any ideas?
It seem the vacuum activator for the lock is disconnect or break somewhere. But check the fuse for the door lock first, be sure that the fuse is good. 2 incidents within day are suspicious for the electrical short. That's my 2 cents.
Well I changed bulbs but power locks still are not working, so guess that has nothing to do with it. Didn't check fuses yet but if the fuse is out why would it still work with the inside switch? Need to have this fixed because even though I can manually lock doors I can't lock the trunk
Ok I checked fuses and all seem fine. I don't think its the vacuum because doors are locking with switch on inside. They just don't lock with infrared remote even though car is receiving signal. I seen another post on this http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w210...t=locking+pump. I will try changing remote battery but I don't think thats problem. Any ideas???
