The Side Mirrors

This may sound like a stupid question, but iv'e never folded my mirrors in towards the car for when I park on the side of the road. I tried to push them in and it seems there was A LOT of resistance. It kept wanting to spring back. Are these electronic or do I just have to force it even more? I do not want to break them. Thanks for any help

You don't say what MY your E320 is, but if it is a newer one, the electrical folding side mirrors are an option. On my 2001, they give a bit, but that was only designed to keep them from breaking if something hits them, like your going through an automated carwash <horrors>.

hmmm, do you actually have a switch inside which is specifically used to fold in the
mirror? i didn't think you would for your model/year. if that's the case, you dont
have Folding Mirror feature, although your mirrors will fold....to expedite removal.
if the latter, then yours is similar to my 99 E320, and heck yeah, that is one heck
of a spring. seat of pants, it feels like a 50# spring or something and i had to put
body weight on it to keep it folded while I accessed the screws inside for removal.

are you going to do the blinking mirrors mod?

Nah, i'm not going for the blinking mirrors mod because I think i would have to run the cables myself. And thanks Raymond for the info on the mirrors. I just didn't want to push them in and break them lol

run cables - you may not have to. some of the W210s years use a mirror connector
which have two unused wires and these wires are already run through the door,
and into the kick panel....waiting to be used. just perfect for blinkers.

why are they there then? from forum member, mod crazy jimmydagreek, these were
for Euro models which are equipped for folding mirrors. here in the US, they were
not used.

that is what I did with my 99 E320. just attached the blinking mirror LED wires to
each of the unused mirror wires. at the other unused end (in the kick panel) I
simply extended them - one to GRD, and the other to switched wire leading to rear
turn signal.

walla. gimme a shout if you decide to do this add-on and I'll do my best to help
