I am a bit confused. Couple of days ago a malfunction saying 'Check lights now' came up when I hit the brakes. I checked the brake lights, and one of them was indeed out. The warning showed up again yesterday, but, today, when I wanted to get the light replaced, the warning disappeared and the light started working again.
Is this a feature? Does this happen often? Are there any loose electrical contacts that I should check out?
Thanks in advance.

I think 'feature' would not be the word I would use to describe the lights out indicator. At least in the older Mercedes you had a light, but it didn't interrupt you every time you did anything.
The sockets are inherently f&c*ed and you most likely need to replace them if the problem persists with good bulbs. I had mine replaced a few thousand miles ago...
